     £2,500

    Presentation: Unmounted
    SN: 2456
    Carved  patinated primavera wood
    15 in. (38cm.) high

This life size effigy is likely to have been used in religious processions.  A hole in the neck indicates that for such occasions clothes would have been attached; the head is hollowed out from the back to reduce the weight.
  • The Allied Forces - a commemorative design for a stained glass window -
    Send image Biography Enquire
     £650

    Presentation: Unmounted
    SN: 3848
    Indistinctly signed
    Pencil on paper
    180 x 60 cm
    Generally poor condition

The pilot  wears (oddly interpreted) RAF flying kit - the figure next to him is a Polish Army officer as the PAF did not wear Konfederatka's (a square-topped cap). The cap top left looks like a US Navy sailor. Below is  Sikh.
Pencil sketches to the margins include caricatures of General de Gaule.
It is unknown if this usual design commission was realized.

We are grateful to Andrew Cormack FSA Keeper of Medals, Uniforms and Visual Arts, RAF Hendon, for assistance.

The scarcity of television aerials on the sky line dates this picture to the late 1940's, prior to the Queen Coronation (which resulted in the mass installation of televisions).
